The development of the world today attracts the attention of experts to pay more attention to the character development of students, because it is related to their future, especially having to overcome the possibility of students losing their identity (Bates, 2021:1-16).
Based on the results of the study it was found that character education has a high relationship with expressions of love, integrity, compassion, and self-discipline.
Character education also has a very large effect on high school students when compared to students at the junior high or elementary education level (Jeynes, 2017: 1-39).
When examined further, it turns out that there is a close relationship between character, discipline, and student attendance in learning (Gani: 2019; Weisburst: 2019; Heise and Nance:2021; Trad, et al.:2021).Based on some of the results of the research above, it can be seen the importance of increasing discipline in terms of student attendance at school as a way to form self-discipline in an effort to shape the character of students in facing their future.In further developments, in accordance with the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No.
22 of 2020 concerning the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Education and Culture for 2020-2024, a program to improve the Pancasila Student Profile is regulated, which aims to realize Indonesian students as lifelong students who have global competence and behave in accordance with the values โโof Pancasila, with six main characteristics: faith , fear God Almighty, and have noble character, global diversity, mutual cooperation, independent, critical reasoning, and creative.Problems that occur in many schools, including at SMAN 16 Garut, there are still many students who arrive late at school, with the recording of lateness is still manual, making it difficult to follow up to improve discipline.
Likewise, attendance records are still manual, making it difficult to solve problems for students who are absent without explanation.Increasing the profile of Pancasila students will also be difficult to measure and follow up if the recording of each students progress is only done manually.Based on the problems and research results above, the author as the Principal of SMAN 16 Garut formed a team to develop an Information System for Attendance, Academic and Student Profile Improvement of Pancasila (SIKAP).The development of the Attendance, Academic Information System and Enhancement of the Pancasila Student Profile aims to:1.
Documenting information on student attendance, learning activities, and development points for improving the profile of Pancasila students.2.
Displaying student attendance information, learning activities, and progress points for improving the profile of Pancasila students in real time.3.
Provide consideration for teachers to provide rewards or punishments in an effort to improve the quality of student character.
